Hassie Adventure - Week 14

Still no news from Van Gogh, I'm getting worried that there is so much wrong with him that he might not come back home!!

While Van Gogh is in Car Hospital E and I disappeared down to Hobart with a our neighbours. We drove down after work one night and arrive in Hobart super early and ended up going straight to be. We went to the Salamanca Markets and MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) was great!!

It was a lovely time away - We defiantly have to bring Van Gogh down here soon he gets better.  Gosh there is so much we want to while in Tasmania, just wondering if we will have enough time.

This one is short and sweet but other than that few days off the mountain is really all the same here... work and sleep. Don't get me wrong - We are enjoying our time here is just not much to write about or things worth remembering.

Lets hope next week is better.

Museum of Old and New Art (MONA)

MONA was a fun experience. E and I enjoy going to Museums and Art Gallery's, we can spend hours looking at pieces and wondering the meaning of life.

Many might know MONA for the 'Poo Machine'. Its an art piece, of how to make poo - everyday at 2pm it poo's the day we seemed to be there the poo was a bit constipated. I did smell like poo and farts but you soon get use to it - or maybe my nurse training might have made me immune to smells. I did enjoy seeing that and how it is an actual thing.

They also had this fountain, if you can call it that, that sprays 'most searched words from google'. I found it very interesting the meaning behind this piece. You are only able to see the word when it is in the light at the right spot, You can also only see the word when it at the very top and all the drops are together.
The artist explained that this is the crucial spot where by what you release onto the internet has an effect and that you have no control about what happens after you post anything.

The blank library I enjoyed with the idea of all our information is on the internet and that referencing a book is almost a thing of the past - Leaving books or library empty.

The mummy we waited about 20 mins just to see a mummy that is supposedly still inside the its coffin. We have no way of knowing that this is true, but we saw a coffin in a dark room surrounded but water.

Would go back to MONA and suggest everyone goes and see the Poo machine.

Mini Adventure - Hobart

It was an adventurous road trip with our Neighbours Elizabeth and Patrick. Leaving at 11pm after everyone finished work and taking on the 4 and half to 5 hours drive towards Hobart. A road trip is not complete without going through a Macc's Drive Thru ... Yummmm.

When we got to Hobart E and I both died of sleep at Pat's mum house. When E and I finally work up Patricks parent made us feel so much at home that it made me miss my family.
After breakfast and chit chat we made our way to the markets where we took some photos and got some supplies.
That night E and I stayed in Clydesdale Manor (Picture above) - a house that was build in the 1880’s and got renovated into a Bed and Breakfast. Waking up in this beautiful house felt like a dream. We went down to a Patio where breakfast was served. E had some muesli and I had the fruit salad. The people running the place is so nice that it just made that place so much better than what it already was.

They gave us little nibble as they said we arn’t eating enough and how kind they were to assist us with our way to MONA (Museum of Old and New Art).I will defiantly be returning to them and suggesting to every one that is going to Hobart to visit this place.

 I’ll Just leave this here - http://www.clydesdalemanor.com.au/

After leaving the Manor with a heavy heart and making a promise to myself to return soon. We made our way to the ferry which was taking us to MONA…
I have been exited to visit the museum here in Hobart since everyone tells you about it…
There is so much I want to say about this place so I will be doing a blog on it separately.

After MONA we went back to Patricks Mothers place and just about met all his family!! A house full of young kids and family…. Oh how I miss home!!

Hassie Adventure - Week 13

Van Gogh!!! Gosh my baby.... This week I had to take Van Gogh to the Car Doctor, he was doing so well warming up, getting ready for the drive when all of a sudden he died. No pulse or anything his eyes (lights) was reacting but other than that - Noting .... I was worried - I have fallen in love with his rusty old body and planning to look after him for quite sometime.
I ended having to ring the Emergency Car Doctor (RAC) for them to come pick him up and get him fixed to come back home.

The good news is that the people who did pick him up was the same people who was going to service him in the first place so it worked out well.

Fingers Crossed he will be ok!!

On a different note - all E and I have been doing this week is WORK!!

yay.

Mini Aventure - Sheffield

An unexpected planned stay. Let me explain - E and I wanted to get off the mountain but didn't want to go to far if even. We did want to get a few things. So we packed Van Gogh and said we will see how we go.

We drove quite a bit - first in the the opposite direction as Sheffield as we wanted to go to Queenstown and do the mines tour there and what ells they have to offer. Got there and the mines weren't doing tour the days we had off. So we drove there for no reason :( So we drove back towards home, and too Sheffield as we wanted to get some food from the city.

By the time we got near Sheffield (40min away from Cradle) its was getting dark - so I said well we better seek shelter for the night here as I am not driving back the way we came since we have been driving for 4 hours doing nothing (partly my fault, but I won't admit it in front of E)

We at Chinese in celebration of our 3 Months Mark of Our Hassie Adventure :)

The next day when we did wake up Van Gogh was not sounding well. He almost had a cough if I can explain it that way. We drove towards to gas station and filled up. After Van Gogh was dead - did not want to wake up... Frightening! booked him in for a Cat Service. We got him started again that day. It was running on 3 cylinders, one popped off.  So the day before we were driving with 3/4 worth of power through the mountains!!

Glad to be in a Warm room again - Taz really is FREEZING!

Hassie Adventure - Month 3 (Week 12)

This week has been a weird week.

I realised I am getting old. I am 8 years closer to 30 this year!! OMG!! How is that so scary. I know 30 is not scary or the age it self, but thought of me leaving the 'younger' years behind is an odd realisation.

E and I got to leave the mountain for a few days which was lovely - it felt like we were back on our adventure. Its not like we have left it but being in the mountain in a room doesnt feel the same like we use to while sleeping in the van, having to pack it up each time we want to leave and organise it when we want to go to sleep. Now Van Gogh is sitting in the cold with out us. I'm not missing the cold and believe me while we did sleep in Van Gogh on night we were just about frozen in it but was lovely to be home.

Lymes Disease Week

It was Lymes Disease Awareness week in May and for that week I made Lime Green cup cakes for my  cousin. Before she was diagnosis with Lymes Disease I and many of my family members never even hear of it.

Lymes Disease is an infection caused by a bacteria that infects humans from a bite of ticks which are infected by this bacteria. Lymes disease is also known to the be "The Great Imitator" because it can be imitated by many other diseases such as MS, Parkinson's Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and many others. Lymes disease can affect any organs in the body including muscles and joints, heart and neurological system (including the brain).

If you want to read more about this disease and see how you can help please go to The Lyme Disease Association of Australia and click on help to donate or buy stickers or anything to help them do some research on this disease.
