Life Scout Badges - Skateboarding

This was one of E short lived hobbies he like to try out. He goes through so many and usually is a spur of the moment idea and generally wont last a week or if I am lucky a month.

With this holly it lasted of a week of actually skateboarding then it stood in the corner of our walk way for about a month or two before he swopped it for a knife from someone at work. Was it a score?? or really a waste of money in the first place??

My Skateboarding experience has been going since my early teens. My cousin does or use too (not to sure if he still does) anyway, he taught me a few tricks. I don't own a skateboard so its long gone memories, although don't think it was my 'thing' anyway.

I was good fun and a memory for us to look back on. On the other hand I am glad E tries new hobbies, just wish he is more money aware. Being on this trip (Hassie Adventure) don't think he has a choice.

Hassie Australian Adventure - Week 1

Its been a fun few days. In some ways boring really, but think it's because we have been in Albany before and done all the touristy things.

Its something to get use to sleeping in a van - not uncomfortable but not as comfortable as you bed you left at home. I am getting use to the idea of holiday'ing realise that soonish we will have to look for some kind of work for income but don't want to think about it yet.

We have asked around in regards to Harvesting opportunities just so we are aware. You have these options

  • Harvest Trail (Job Search) - Which shows you where its season for pickers and who to call. There is a number you can ring and they help you look for the area's you are in for farms who might have contacted them looking for pickers.
  • Local Newspapers - Always advertising farm work or part time helpers
  • Asking at your local caravan park - never know farmers know that travels live there so might mention it to the grounds keeper
  • BackPackers - Same as above (al though it might be fairly hard to get a spot considering a lot of over seas travellers live in backpackers)
  • Information Centrers - They might have information of harvesting spots as well as general town jobs
So there is many options we can take. I am hoping for the harvesting opportunities just so that E and I work similar hours.

We will keep you posted.

Life Scouts Badges - Driving

Driving Badge

Everyone Might know E and I are on a Adventure around Australia. Its going to be a long drive and in a van.

Looking back though - This is something that I do on a daily basis, but thinking back I always wondered how my parents could do it with out falling asleep. I think this thought come from the fact that if I'm a passenger I always fall asleep with in minuets of take off. This could be my parents fault - they always told me that as a child, when I couldn't sleep they would pop me in the car, drive around and wait for me to fall asleep. hmm a thinker ay??

I do enjoy driving but I find it very stressful, I don't know if it is just me or if everyone has this feeling. I Currently drive a Mazda E2000 (Van) while E and I are travelling around Australia. Van Gosh not being a new car rattles and creeks like anything and hearing theses noises make me worry if something is broken or if i have done something wrong. Eek. Hopefully I am not alone.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates on OurRabbitHole11 blog

or anywhere we can

The BIG Prawn - Exmouth WA

Thinking about BIG things in Australia. E and I remembered we have done a "big thing" on our honeymoon in Exmouth.

I couldn't find much information of the prawn it self and reasons why its is where it is and when it was made. All I found on the web is stating it was hand made by fibre glass. How true that is? I don't know. When we go around Australia and finally see it again. I will read the board and update all of you.

Just a bit of Exmouth info for you.

Exmouth is a town on the tip of the North West Cape in Western Australia. This town is located 1270 km north of Perth adn 3366 km South- West of Darwin. Down looking at a map - you wouldn't think its that far from Darwin but it is. Soon E and I will be driving it and I can defiantly confirm its that far.

And we're off

The day has finally come!! Took its time... But we’re off!! (22 February 2013)

Plan was to leave at 10am but as always E had a different idea. To me It felt like he was being spiteful by taking his time and he knew I wanted to leave early. Argh!! On the day we want to leave E till had a bit to do. He still had to pack away his desk and organise his computer storage. I pack most of the house, all I left was for him to do his ‘office’ and that took him forever but it got done in the end.

The day before - Said goodbyes to the family, left my parents house with a heavy heart!! You appreciate them for being there but when you leave them behind its like running into a brick wall, you never think this is how much you will miss them.

Day 1:
After a long two days we’re finally off at 12.05 (only 2 hours behind schedule). Filled up our van and off to our first destination, NOT took a detour and ended up seeing one of Australia’s Big Things (Click here to see the collection). We saw The Giant Ram in Wagin (Click here to read info on me). Really would like to see all the BIG things in Oz!! Defiantly making that a goal for our Trip!

First night in our van, we stayed at a free camping spot in Yornaning Dam. Sleeping on wheels gave me a rather scary thought, Will it run forward or tip over if we’re both on the same side of the van. Each time I hear something, or something moves a new thought comes across my mind - a Bizarre one at that!!

This is will be a interesting few months!!
