Hard Rock Cafe' - Queensland

So this is a BIG thing in Australia. Wasn't as exiting as I thought. Maybe if we ever get to go to a Hard Rock Cafe' in America, it could be more exiting.

Kalgoorlie Super Pit

The sheer size of this pit is unreal. It so hard to just show you how big it is in a photo.

Look at the first photo and see if you can spot the yellow trucks. The second photo is a good reference how big the truck really are.

This supper pit is the biggest gold mine in Australia. Its kind of beautiful when you sit there and stare at this massive hole but is quiet ugly at the same time.
All the red sand really makes you realise your in Australia.

Can you see the trucks yet??

Big Kangaroo

Big Kangaroo is located at Border Village in South Australian side. I don't know how E and I didn't stop the first time we went across the Eyre Highway. According to wikipedia - its the only place in South Australia where Daylight Savings Time is not in use.

I can tell you that its annoying having to drive just a few meter west and its an hour later.

Big Gala

The first time we drove thru Kimba, I never realised that there was a BIG 'thing' here, so on the way home I told E we need to make sure we tick it off our list.

In regards to why its a gala, I do't know and can't find anything on the Google but wither way enjoy a photo of me next to a massive bird and wearing my finest morning clothing.

Big Wine Bottle

This is my kind of bottle.

I could not find any facts about why it is here, how long it took to make and and and. I got to tick it off my list and thats all I am happy with ..... WINE!!

Big Banana (Coff Harbour)

The image you get you think about big things here in Australia.

Seeing it right there almost feels unreal. I imagined it to be bigger though.
Reading the history it's fascinating to know that hey wanted something to make people stop and that made the Big banana a reality.

It's said to be the Biggest Banana in the world.

Big Bowl (Lake Cathie)

We're back to doing the Big things, well only a few around the way up to the new place.

The first one for the day was the big bowl. I was expecting a bowl for like cereal bits a bowl you use in lawn bowls.. So driving around and finding it was a surprise.

Said to be the largest in the world measuring up to 1.9m(6'2") in diameter and weighs 2 tonnes.

Trying to move it isn't easy!

Big Whale - Cockle Creek

We found another big thing that wasn't on our list, but I will add it now. Its also at the Southern Most point of Tasmania and also Australia.

This life-size, 3month old southern right whale sculpture is a poignant reminder that whale calves once frolicked in this bay. Whaler harpooned calves first as their distress calls kept adults close. Little wonder that whaling almost wiped out the species altogether.

Big Apple - Spayton

This this the Big apple, there isn't much on why its there or information on it but fr what I can tell is that it's advertising for a fruit and vegetable store!

We did make a point of going in and bying some fruit and veggies to support this small town. We have found that the produce and people her in Tasmania is one of the best and is making us relise just how much of a possibility living in Tasmania would be.

One more done and dusted. So glad I am trying to do all the big things!!

BIG Spud

Looking for this BIG spud and being able to find is 2 differnt things.  We must have been drivin 'forever' and google maps took us to a place with nothing around it. It was just about in the middle of nowhere, with a big highway next to it and it covered with tall grass. We finally did find it between construction works.

It looks like there use to be a tyer shop that closed down or being renovated. Neither us could understand the significance it has with a Spud or what a spud has to do with tyers but its there. Not much of this BIG thing but we stoped and took a photo since its on our list.

I don’t know how long its going to be around, may go down with the renovations.

Only one more to go here in Tasmanian thats on our list.

Yay

Big Platypus - Latrobe

We were driving we realised we can tick one more big thing off our list.

This was our third last one to tick off on our list in Tasmania. The thought that we just about did them all is amazing!

This big platypus has apparently been lifted by the wind a few months or so ago so you are are to see dents and things in the platypus. Hard to imagine it could be lifted as its so big.

Exited about the thought about doing more!!

Big Lobster - Stanley TAS

This Lobster isn't on the list I am going from for all my big things. Although that is how it is - I am now adding it to the list and therefore is officially apart of all the big things.

I don't know much about it, but as you can see form the photos is that its part of a sea food store and gains peoples attention. The town this store is in - is very quite so I don't know if it makes much money - but then again, we were there on a sunday. Everything is closed on a sunday!!
