Table Cape

Table Cape is located just a few kilometres outside of Wynard, it is known for the tulip farm and displaying all different colours in the spring time.

Since we went up in winter we missed all the different colours but at least enjoyed the look out. If you look closely you can see where the towns are. Everything looks so far away but actually its not to far in distance.

The Nut

This trip we tried doing everything in the north-west of Tasmania. First stop was The Nut in a small town by the name Stanely.

Stanley is a tourist destination and the main fishing port in the north west of Tasmania. The Nut is an old volcanic plug that was discovered in 1798. It has steep sides and rises to 143meter with a flat top. There is chairlift that you could take up to the nut but when E and I traveled there the chairlift was closed. Therefore E and I had to walk up this very steep track.

When we did get to the top it was beautiful, picturesque and very windy. At first E didn't want to walk around the top but since we aren't planning on going back the North-West of Tasmania I kind of insisted.

Hassie Adventure - Week 26

Well I have accepted the full time offer in housekeeping.

I am not exited about this position but not complaining either. Its job and I do it and go home. I will see how it goes. There was a few things that happened while I was still deciding that made me worry about a few key issues but I have decided to keep out of it.

Lets see what happens in the weeks to come.

This is a week of working....

As you might remember, I started helping out in Food and Beverage. Well I tell you what!! I started while it was busy!! My Gosh!!

We had our first big snow fall (YAY) and that means everyone comes up to see it. Which means the Tavern is super busy and trying to learn things while its that busy really kept me on my toes and also gave me an understanding on how 'hectic' it really can get!!

Nothing really special happened so a short and sweet one this week

Big Coffee Pot - Deloraine TAS

I have driven past this before and never really realised that its actually the Coffee Pot that is part of the BIG Things.  Its a great idea use something you use everyday and make it an attraction - great thinking locals.

Trying to take this photo was a challenge, it was very windy and I was actually being pushed. Even E had to try and stand still to get a good shot.

Big Wickets - Westbury TAS

While in Tasmania E and I got to see the BIG Wickets in Wesbury, which has been known for them since 209. It was erected as a memorial for a local cricketer, Jack Badcock. Mr Badcock played test cricket for the Australian team between 1936-2938. He was Tasmania's first test cricketer and the first Tasmanian to score a century in international cricket.

Neither E or I real watch or follow crickets so we didn't really know this or bothered knowing anymore. It was interesting to know this was in memory of someone - which is always a great way to be remembered.

Hassie Adventure - Week 25

This week has been an interesting one.... I was approached by the manager in housekeeping and asked if I wanted to be full time.

This surprised me as they know that E and I are traveling and will be leaving in the near by future. I as flattered but confused at the same time. There are girls that has been working here for much longer that I have and they weren't offered anything.

Before I could give them an answer I wanted to know a few things and get a better understanding on what I will be getting myself into.

First thing you want to know is how much yo are getting paid

  • $17.49 per hour ($21.86 Saturday and $30.61 Sundays)
  • 38 hours a week (0800-1630)
  • Can still work in Food and beverage
  • And my days off with E.
All this sounds good but This also means that when the casual girls go home or get sent home because of budget this means I have to stay back and finish off what they didn't.

Usually I would take it with no questions asked but I am not looking for a full time job as I am not planning on being her full time and forever.

Still discussing it with E.

Bath Time at Cradle Mountain

After traveling for 6 months and not enjoyed a lovely long bath since we left home, we got to enjoy this beautiful deep bath. For 45mins I got to just about swim and enjoy a view of the Pencil Pine River and just relax.

You don't realise how much you miss something until you don't have it anymore - Don't get me wrong, Showers are nice and lovely but nothing beats a bath. Wish I would have one like this all the time but unfortunately my pocket won't be able to cope.

Highly recommended if you ever visit Cradle Mountain.

Pen Pal - Yolandi

My second Pen Pal is Yolandi and she is not family but a very close friend. I haven't seen her in about 8 years but we keep in touch.

This is the beautiful photos she was sharing with me. I enjoy reading her hand written stories and see the photo that I wouldn't see on Facebook and I am sure it would be the same with her.

It does take a long time before we get each others letter - there fore it is called snail mail, but that just makes it more special.

Can't wait for the next on - but then again... I don't remember if I even replied.

Oops
