If you know me at all, you would know I am an old soul at heart. All year long I have been talking to E about trying to see James Morrison with the Wester Australian Symphony Orchestra. While browsing for events to attend James Morrison again posed up in my feed and I just made the decision to book for us to see him.
A somewhat long concert was well worth it seeing we kind of got an education session on Jazz through the years.
The songs he played were:
- Basin Street Blue - Louis Armstrong 1928
- The birth of the Blues - Whispering Jack Smith 1927
- Seven Come Elven - Benny Goodman, Charlie Christian, Lionel Hampton 1934
- Stardust - Hoagy Carmichael 1927
- Honeysuckle Rose - Fats Waller 1934
- Don't Get Around Much Anymore - Duke Ellington 1940
- Mood Indigo - Duke Ellington 1930
- Lil' Daling' - Count Basie 1958
- El Gato - Duke Ellington 1958
- A Night in Tunisia - Dizzy Gillespie and Sarah Vaughan 1944
- Cherokee - Charlie Parker 1945
- All Blues - Miles Davis 1959
- 'Round Midnight - Miles Davis 1957
- Manteca - Dizzy Gillespie 1954
- Desafinado - Stan Getz, Joao Gilberto and Charlie Byrd 1962
- Chameleon - Herbie Hancock 1973
- Birdland - Weather Report 1977
I realised I prefer the earlier Jazz years. Its got a dancing in the kitchen kind of mood too it, which will make me very happy to keep listening to it. Thinking now about just how much I love the music makes me happy.
